Camp Vught
At the edge of Vught, you can find Nationaal Monument Kamp Vught, situated on part of the former Camp Vught. In 1943 the Konzentrationslager Herzogenbusch (Concentration Camp 's-Hertogenbosch/Den Bosch) was built here – the only SS-concentration camp outside Nazi-Germany. Visiting this place gives you an idea of the creation of camp Vught and the national-socialist system.
In addition to the permanent exposition about the emergence of camp Vught, you go to the outside area with the authentic camp pit, the reconstructed watch towers and barrack, the ‘children monument’ and the crematorium. The personal stories known about the former prisoners make your visit an impressive experience. An audio tour (Dutch, English, German and French) can be obtained at the desk. Frequently, there are temporary expositions . Barrack 1B is the last brick barrack of camp Vught and highlights the (post-)war history of the terrain (limited opening times).
